We are passionate about protecting our oceans from microplastic pollution. We have chosen to work exclusively with natural fibres to bring awareness to the impact of microplastic pollution caused by synthetic clothing. Our pieces have been designed to offer an empowering and conscious choice for our customers.

Did you know that clothes are polluting the ocean?

Washing clothes releases half a million tonnes of plastic microfibres into the ocean every year, equivalent to more than 50 billion plastic bottles. 35 percent of the microplastics that enter the ocean come via synthetic textiles.

Polyester, nylon, acrylic, and other synthetic fibres are all forms of plastic. Washing synthetic garments releases tiny plastic microfibres into our oceans, finding their way into the diets of marine life and our food chain.

Efforts are being made to reduce plastic pollution but we also need to recognise that our clothes are a part of the problem. Saying no to synthetic fibres contributes to the protection of our environment and marine wildlife, how empowering is this!

By purchasing natural fibre clothing, you’re actively reducing the amount of synthetic clothing entering our oceans.  We believe in buying less, but better quality clothing and only washing when necessary!

At Lylou the label you will only find natural fibres in all our collections. Our first collection "Terra'' is exclusively made from luxurious plant-based sustainable fabric such as Linen, Bamboo, and Cupro Tencel (made from recycled cotton waste).
